When the crank arm has been securely fastened to the axle by tightening and applying the tightening torque to the bolts, a special extractor is required to safely remove the crank arm from the axle. What to do when the bottom bracket axle does not have tapered mating surfaces, such as on e-bikes? In this case (threaded bottom bracket), an additional support is necessary, as the position of the crank arm is determined solely by threaded connections and the standard removal method is no longer applicable. We have the solution: the new Cyclus crank extractor, with a longer stroke extractor (over 20 mm). The new Cyclus extractor allows for the quick, safe, and professional removal of both older and newer, deeper crank arms. To make the best use of the new CYCLUS TOOLS extractor, the following components are essential: crank internal thread M24x1, bottom bracket connection thread M10x1.

Special note: with the help of the CYCLUS TOOLS cutter (art. 720235), it is possible to first ream out damaged crank threads (M22x1); then cut a new M24x1 thread using the CYCLUS TOOLS tap (and die: art. 720245). Upon completion of the work, you will not only disassemble the crank arm but also repair it. Your customer will greatly appreciate this service.

Note: ensure you have the Cyclus Tools insertion guides. Once a new thread is cut, you can use compatible Cyclus Tools extractors and remove the crank arm as usual.
