If you want to shorten the fork steerer tube without the inconvenience of having to disassemble the fork, this tool will help you achieve a straight and clean cut. First, remove the top cap and loosen the stem bolts. Then, carefully pull the stem upwards and set it aside to avoid damaging cables and housings (if integrated). Now remove the expander and spacers, then install the cutting guide. Use a head tube cover. Position the guide at the point where you intend to shorten. Caution: hand-tighten only. At this point you can shorten the fork steerer tube. Guide the saw blade parallel to the contact surface. Cut carefully and reduce pressure when you are near the end. Remove any sawdust residue after cutting. Finally, you can reassemble the stem exactly as you normally would.
